Johnson tops out the list consisting of such high profile actors as Ryan Reynolds, Mark Wahlberg, Ben Affleck, and Vin Diesel, among many other recognizable names in the top 10 highest-paid actors in 2020. It’s worth noting that, while this is Johnson’s second year in a row at the top of the list, it’s not his second year overall. He previously earned the honor in 2016, which saw him starring in Central Intelligence and Moana.

While it’s not necessarily a surprise to hear considering how hotly in-demand Johnson is in Hollywood, many might take pause to think of a more popular talent who must surely be making more. It’s true, there may be others whose names are more frequently on the public’s lips at any given time, but in terms of consistency, Dwayne Johnson never seems to take a break.

The rest of the names in the top 10 are sure to be no surprise to most. Coming in at 7, 8, and 9 are Lin-Manuel Miranda, Will Smith, and Adam Sandler, respectively. Granted, Sandler might raise a few eyebrows, but it’s worth remembering that he signed a substantial 4-movie deal with Netflix in 2014, and his performance in last year’s Uncut Gems proved he’s got some dramatic chops that are sure to draw the attention of studios near and far. To be clear, this list is only for male actors. The list of highest-paid female actors will be out next month.

It’s certainly daunting to see so many highly paid people in one list. Combining the earnings of each actor in the top 10 comes up to $545.5 million, which just serves to show how lucrative entertainment is as an industry for those who can make it. Who knows where next year, or even the rest of this year, might go. But on thing is for certain: it’s going to be expensive.
