In a recent interview with VG247, Tymon Smektała was asked what can be expected for Dying Light 2 DLC. In response to a question about whether or not future content would go “as out there” as the first game, Smektała said that fans should not be too hopeful that upcoming additions to the game’s story will take place in space. However, they then go on to say that something like that is not likely to happen until possibly year three or four. While it’s an ambiguous comment, it does suggest that something quite outlandish could be coming to the sequel eventually.

Smektała continues by saying that the first and second DLCs that are currently in development will take place in different locations, though they are still part of the same universe. Again, it doesn’t appear as though Techland wants to give too much away at this point. With the first Dying Light 2 DLC delayed and the studio saying that it “needs more time,” fans will have to keep guessing about what’s inbound for the parkour game. Smektała reiterates Techland’s plan to dedicate five years to looking after the game, even as the next project begins.
Since the sequel came out in February, there have been a number of updates and tweaks that have kept things ticking over. One of the big implementations has been the recent addition of New Game Plus to Dying Light 2, allowing players to start the story over again with modified parameters.
While some may feel that the game fell short of the mark, especially when compared to the first game from 2015, Dying Light 2 is considered by some to be one of the best open world games out there and one that will keep zombies in the gaming consciousness. It will be interesting to see what Techland comes up with for the DLC, but hopefully there will be some pretty outlandish ideas being bandied around the studio.
Dying Light 2: Stay Human is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. A Switch version is scheduled for release later this year.
