The trailer for the sequel paints a bleak portrait of a post-apocalyptic future, one that not only includes zombies, but very scary human enemies also in the forms of gangs or militias. The striking image in the trailer of people being hanged at a public execution with a man exclaiming that those who break the rules will be executed and left to root should show the kind of world players are in for with Dying Light 2.
The game reveal was soon followed by a Techland developer laying out some of what players can expect from the new title. Of course, the parkour elements that made the original so popular will be making a comeback, but also players can expect a fully realized and reactionary world, one where players decisions will influence the game world moving forward.
The original Dying Light was first announced to much fanfare back in 2013, as a game to revitalize interest in a waning zombie genre. The game was decently successful when it launched back in 2015 and has been receiving new content since, maintaining a fairly sizable fan base in the process.
There is no word yet on when fans will get their hands on the title, but hopefully it won’t be as big a gap between announcement and release as the original. However long it is, Techland is sure to deliver something interesting. The studio must know that in the ever-increasing genre it needs to deliver something unique to stay relevant. Hopefully it can pull it off.
Dying Light 2 has no release date.
