Industry Gamers scored some face time with both of the well-respected game industry veterans, and both interviewees seemed quite confident in Nintendo and their next generation platform. Riccitiello emphasized his excitement about the fact that his company was working on software for the new home console, even going so far as to state that “there is something about having that second screen that transcends anything I’ve ever done before.” EA’s CEO didn’t stop there either, stating that there he thinks the developers at EA are “just beginning to realize what we can do with it and I think it’s obvious we can do a lot with it.”

Cliff Bleszinski on the other hand, didn’t comment on the development side of the new tech. Instead he took the ‘outside looking in’ approach and proudly stated that he knows he’ll be buying the Wii U.

Cliff didn’t mention whether or not Epic Games would be developing games for the new hardware, but it’s certainly possible given reports that the Wii U is as powerful, or even more powerful, as the 360 and PS3. We should hear more from Epic on that topic in the not too distant future, but in the meantime, Nintendo diehards will just have to wait and kill time by playing with their Wiis.

“The Power Glove [back on NES] led to the Wii, right? The Virtual Boy led to the 3DS, right? A lot of these older technologies that you forget about are [the technological predecessors]. The Kinect is a sophisticated webcam, right? So I’m just dying to see it. It’s Nintendo. I’ll buy it. I know I’ll buy it. They’ll talk sh*t but they’ll buy it.”
