During its hour-long presser, EA made mentions of both the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One, but the phrase “Nintendo Switch” didn’t come up even once. The lack of a mention for the new Nintendo console was, many agreed on social media, incredibly odd given that EA is bringing at least one game to the console: FIFA 18. EA did reveal some news about the Nintendo Switch version of the game, including FIFA 18’s Joy-Con support....
So when Battlefield 3 debuted, a game that sells itself on its groundbreaking Frostbite 2 powered visuals, we were baffled when EA and developer DICE hosted a video competition for players… when the game and the Origin service it runs on don’t even support video capturing or sharing. That’s about to change in a very big way, not just for Origin-powered games, but for this year’s most anticipated title: Call of Duty: Black Ops 2....
Many fans criticized the EA press conferences for a lack of gameplay. EA would often fill the show with developer diaries, which doesn’t sound too bad, but some fans would tune in to see substantial gameplay footage from their favorite franchises. A lot of players also had no interest in the sports games that were a big part of the show. However, it seems like EA Play Live 2021 was well-received, as the show ended with the announcement of a Dead Space remake....
EA Play Live 2020 will now take place on June 18th at 4pm PT. In lieu of an event in Los Angeles where attendees could get hands-on time with its upcoming games, Electronic Arts announced a fully livestreamed event that will act almost exactly as its usual E3 press conference. EA is just one of a number of companies to have had to shift its plans in light of the ongoing global pandemic....
[Update (July 12, 2011) Electronic Arts has acquired casual game maker PopCap for $650 million in cash and $100 million in stock.] Electronic Arts, which has made its living from a console-heavy games lineup and the diehard crowd, has had little luck in the social gaming circuit, getting away with titles such as The Sims… and that’s about it. Assuming that the purchase of PopCap could boost their social and mobile gaming portfolios, this could be exactly what EA needs to turn the tide in their favor....
EA has revealed its first-ever “Impact Report.” In an effort to be more transparent, the report details how the company is attempting to improve in areas of diversity, work-life balance, privacy and security, and the environment. RELATED: Mobile Game Developers Band Together to Help the Environment CEO Andrew Wilson released a statement regarding the Impact Report, sharing the report, and also explaining why EA chose to share the information. As reported by VGC, the company is working on reviving the critically acclaimed video game franchise. Though the video game is back within the developers’ plans, fans should not get their hopes up too quickly. The franchise’s first installment in over a decade will still take years before it finally gets released. A studio-wide email sent by EA Canada to their staff revealed: The company is focusing on the upcoming UFC game and has paused the development of the Fight Night franchise....

Not only that, the publisher unveiled their new engine, Ignite, which will presumably fuel every EA Sports game going forward. More specifically, though, EA Sports highlighted four upcoming titles that will use Ignite: FIFA 14, NBA Live 14, EA Sports UFC, and Madden NFL 25. In addition to a brief mention of these titles, EA Sports also debuted a new trailer (seen above) which showcased what these next-gen sports games will look like....

After multiple years of delay, Techland’s zombie thriller was released in early February and became a hit with fans, ranking high on Steam’s list of most played games. Dying Light 2 was met with favorable reviews across multiple outlets, and fans were pleased to see more of the great parkour mechanics and combat that made the first Dying Light so successful. However, with other high-anticipated games releasing in February, including Horizon Forbidden West and Elden Ring, many fans wondered how Dying Light 2 would compare against them in such a packed month....
More specifically, Techland has confirmed that Dying Light 2 will be a cross-gen release, which suggests that this highly anticipated survival horror game will be available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One as well as the forthcoming PS5 and next Xbox consoles. Furthermore, Pawel Rohleder, chief technical officer at Techland, has indicated that the decision to bring Dying Light 2 to next-gen platforms is not a new one, stating, “the plan since the beginning of production has been to make Dying Light 2 a cross-generation title....

It costs £499.99 for the desk version and £649.99 for the floorstanding lamp. There’s one colour scheme, for the moment at least: white and silver. Jake Dyson’s new lighting product builds on the Lightcycle task lamp, which the company brought to market in March 2019. We reviewed it on its release, noting both the sophisticated technology that went into its construction and its extravagant price tag....

Treyarch Studio Head Mark Lamia walked onto the stage today at the Sony Press Conference to announce a bold move for his Activision-owned studio: the series would be giving Sony timed-exclusive content. Of course, he’s specifically referring to upcoming content from Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, a game which is set to release this November across all consoles. Behind him, the screens portrayed the world’s first glimpse into the in-game multiplayer of Black Ops 3, and things looked good - real good....

The team behind DOOM didn’t waste any time with a cinematic trailer and instead presented five minutes of actual gameplay footage....
In a discussion between Matt Grandstaff, DOOM executive producer Marty Stratton, and art director Hugo Morton, one thing was quite clear: id Software’s new game might be a reboot, but it’s not reinventing the franchise. Like Stratton says, DOOM has always been about “Badass demons, big f’n guns, and moving really, really fast.” Morton adds, “Demons are bad, but you’re worse.” Rest assured, those things aren’t going to change....

The game’s spiritual sequel, Xenoblade Chronicles X, hits North American shelves on December 4, 2015. The game is a Wii U exclusive. Xenoblade Chronicles X is a near-future sci-fi adventure in which Earth is caught in the middle of a war between two alien races....
It appears that if EA’s head honcho John Riccitiello has anything to say about it (he does), then there will indeed be a third entry in the horror shooter franchise, one that will have a ton of pressure placed upon it. At the Goldman Sachs Technology and Internet Conference, Riccitiello listed some of the strong and growing franchises that exist under the Electronic Arts banner – games that he hopes to see developed into more and more sequels....
