Those expecting for things to get back to ‘normal’ next year will be let down then, as EA’s new approach to video game press conferences appears to be here to stay. Making a “radical statement,” in a new interview, EA executive Peter Moore tells Eurogamer that “I’m not too sure that press conferences have a future," before going on to explain that EA’s packed out Gamescom booth was made up of “a combination of our key customers, digital, retail, probably 40 per cent influencers....

One of the biggest players in terms of incorporating dual screen gameplay was EA, announcing that both Need for Speed: Rivals and Battlefield 4 would come with downloadable applications for handheld devices which allow players to interact with their games in a whole new way. For Battlefield 4, EA and DICE re-introduced the fan-favorite Commander Mode in a whole new way. The mode gives players with tablets, laptops and dual monitors a top down view of an in progress online game, allowing them to give orders and drop missiles onto the enemy team below from a handheld or secondary device....

In December, Madden NFL 23 was having some strange server issues. Players trying to access their franchises were being sent a database storage error that prevented them from playing. EA Tiburon issued a statement acknowledging the issue and saying it would be investigated. On December 28, EA Tiburon issued a “fix” that is now confirmed to have led to serious consequences. Madden NFL 23 players that accessed Connected Franchise Mode during this 10-hour window on December 28 are confirmed to be dealing with this corruption issue....

Electronic Arts currently holds the rights to many classic games, as well as more well-known modern series such as Battlefield and Titanfall. Two such licenses the company holds are Ultima and Syndicate, and today the company exercised its power to remove several games in these series from a third-party platform. All the action takes place in the cockpit and the game will hopefully be a worthy addition to the Star Wars canon after the success of older franchises like Rogue Squadron and Battlefront....

What Are the Dates for the Next E3? The ESA didn’t hold E3 events the past couple years, but it’s planning on bringing it back in 2023. This year’s event will take place June 11-16 both online and at at the Los Angeles Convention Center, with separate industry and public days and briefings. Instead of the ESA, however, marketing coordinator Reedpop will be handling all of the details. Public and professional events will occur in different parts of the convention center between June 13 and 15....

EA Play Live usually takes place the same week as E3, in June. This year E3 2022 will be online-only for the second time, but EA has decided against holding launches alongside it. Why is EA Play Live 2022 cancelled? EA says that it’s skipping its streams simply because the timing isn’t right this year. “We love EA Play Live as it’s our way of connecting with our players and sharing what’s new with all of you,” the publisher said in a statement to IGN....
